Padmini Kolhapure signs Marathi flick

Padmini Kolhapure, the tragedy Queen of the ’80s (Prem Rog, Ahista Ahista), has signed a Marathi film titled Manthan, opposite Sachin Khedekar. “Manthan is a story based on the relationship between a man and his wife. I play the wife.

It’s about how she gets a job as a radio jockey and the radio station’s agony aunt, but strangely cannot solve her own problems,” says Padmini, elaborating on her role. “Unlike other Marathi films, this one is going to be produced on a large canvas,” she adds.

At the same time, Kolhapure is also slated to return to the big screen with Eight and Souten, both directed by Karan Razdan. Manthan will be directed by Dr Mrinalini Dayal, and will go on the floors in April. The entire film will be shot in Mumbai.

Kolhapure’s other venture Souten, produced by Naveen Tak, also stars Mahima Chaudhary, Shakti Kapoor, Gulshan Grover, Vikram Singh and Kiran Rathod.

It is being described as a family drama with an undercurrent of eroticism. Eight, which is a supernatural thriller, has Padmini playing a key role opposite bad man Gulshan Grover.
